Nurses save lives.  They provide hands-on care to patients and their relatives by carefully assessing their needs and conditions, planning their care, and implementing the care until the patient returns to their optimal health and way of living. They are Educators who educate on various health-related conditions both in preventive and curative ways. They also offer support to patients, families, and the community at large.  Nurses do not work alone but with other members of the health team as physicians, nutritionists, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, etc. in offering care to their patients.  Nurses advocate for patients' rights and integrity and also make sure to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Different nurses work in different departments depending on their specialty which can include public health nurses, oncology nurses, mental health nurses, palliative care nurses, Labour nurses, intensive care nurses, etc. Nurses do not only work in a hospital setup but also work in administration, in industries (production companies) Mines, in the education sector, etc.  Nursing is an international profession meaning that one can also work anywhere in the World.

Northrise University offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing which is a general nursing program. General Nurses are found in every sector and can work in any of the above places.
