Northrise University recently marked a monumental milestone with its 17th graduation ceremony. This day was filled with joy, pride, and recognition of the hard work and dedication of the graduating class of 2024. The theme, “Celebrating our Legacy and Building our Future,” perfectly encapsulated the event’s spirit, highlighting the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, holistic development, and its Christ-centered values.
The ceremony began with a grand procession of graduates, a sea of academic gowns and caps, their faces glowing with anticipation and pride. Family members, friends, and faculty filled the venue, their applause resonating as the graduates took their seats. The atmosphere was electric, a harmonious blend of solemnity and celebration.
Mrs. Goble led the assembly in a heartfelt prayer. She expressed deep gratitude for the graduates’ journey and sought blessings for their future endeavors. “May the knowledge and wisdom gained here at Northrise guide you in your paths ahead. May you carry forward the values of integrity, compassion, and perseverance into the world, making it a better place for all,” she prayed, setting a reflective and hopeful tone for the ceremony.
With spirits lifted, the ceremony moved to the conferral of degrees. Graduates hailed from a diverse range of programs including Bachelor of Finance and Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Information Technology in Web and Software Development, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Theology in Pastoral Studies, Bachelor of Human Resource Management, and Bachelor of Project Management. Each graduate was called to the stage to receive their degree, marking a proud moment for themselves and their families, a culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
One of the event’s highlights was the presentation of awards to the top-performing students from various programs of study. Sun FM Zambia presented a special award of K5000 to Tumelo Lutaka, the best-performing student in the Bachelor of Information in Web and Software Development (BITWSD). The recipients, cheered on by their peers and loved ones, took to the stage, their achievements serving as a source of inspiration for all present.
The moment everyone eagerly awaited arrived with the introduction of the valedictorian, Temwani Nanyinza. Known for her exceptional academic record and community involvement, Temwani delivered a heartfelt valedictory speech. “We came to Northrise University as individuals, each with our own aspirations and uncertainties. Today, we leave not just as graduates, but as a family, ready to face the world with courage and conviction,” she said, her words deeply resonating with everyone in attendance.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Temwani was also awarded a plot of land from one of our sponsors, Zambezi Diamond, valued at K40,000.
Following Temwani’s inspiring address, Mr. Stanley Kabaso, the Northrise University Alumni Association President, took the stage to induct the graduates into the Northrise University Alumni Association. In his welcoming speech, Mr. Kabaso emphasized the importance of staying connected and contributing to the university community. “Our alumni network is a valuable resource for professional growth and personal development. Stay engaged, stay connected, and continue to uphold the values of our alma mater,” he said, marking the graduates’ transition from students to alumni.
The Vice Chancellor of Northrise University, Dr. Zimba, then invited the guest of honor, Hon. Douglas Munsaka Syakalima, who was represented by Mr. Brian Makufele, to deliver his speech. Hon. Douglas Syakalima emphasized the importance of resilience and innovation in today’s rapidly changing world. “You are the pioneers of tomorrow, and your journey of learning and growth doesn’t end here; it has just begun,” he encouraged, urging the graduates to pursue their dreams with determination and integrity.
Mr. Lusuntha Ngulube, Northrise University Operations Officer, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event and the graduates’ journey.
As the ceremony drew to a close, Pastor Lama led the congregation in a closing prayer, offering words of encouragement and hope. “May you go forth with the confidence and courage to face new challenges. May you always seek wisdom and remain true to the values instilled in you here at Northrise. We send you off with our blessings and best wishes for your future endeavors,” he prayed, providing a fitting end to the day’s celebrations.
The 17th graduation ceremony of Northrise University was not just an end, but a beginning. It celebrated the past, acknowledged the present, and looked forward to the future. For the graduates, it marked the culmination of years of hard work and the start of new adventures. For the university, it reaffirmed its mission to educate, inspire, and empower the leaders of tomorrow within a Christ-centered framework.
As the sun set on this memorable day, one thing was clear: the future is bright for the graduates of Northrise University. They leave with more than just a degree; they carry with them the knowledge, skills, and Christ-centered values that will guide them in making meaningful contributions to society.
