NORTHRISE UNIVERSITY!
Join us this week as we Raise Awareness on Mental Health Wellness.
Why? Because Mental health is an important part of our general well-being. So, it is important for us to create awareness in order to encourage others. This semester, Northrise University is hosting a Mental Health Awareness Week in Week 10.
Introduction: This brief article tries to emphasize the importance of mental health awareness in schools. It also attempts to encourage students at Northrise to participate in the mental health activities scheduled for this week.
Recap: On Monday, 14th of October, we had an Encouragement Wall, where students were putting uplifting notes to encourage others and express their feelings about their mental health. The theme was “How are you really feeling?”. In response to that question, some students wrote notes like:
- You got this keep pushing, Love&Light.
- I’m happy but a little bit sad.
- Never too late to start over.
- It’s ok not to be ok.
- Not great, things improve.
- You’re loved.
- Dear Me, you got this.
- I am feeling great but not great at the same time, I have mixed feelings about everything.
Those are just a few expressions from students. We can see that school life has a major impact on our mental health and that we all handle situations differently. We all develop feelings like anxiety, stress and in some cases depression.
But how we handle those feelings shows how our mind is. Therefore as students, we all need to encourage ourselves and stand up for each other because one’s mental health has an effect on others.
And so my fellow students, let’s get involved in this awareness by:
 Promoting empathy.
 Reducing stigmatization.
 Encouraging and Expressing Self-Love.
Listening to other people’s encouraging stories.
 Respecting others.
Helping each other with emotional support.
Conclusion: Let’s work together and be a part of this empowering week and take part in the
activities that will take place so that we can build a supportive community amongst ourselves.
Remember that your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
Quote: “Your thoughts and situations do not define you, they build you. So never be discouraged because the storm always tests the strongest trees.”
