Echoes of well done, congrats, good job and hats off filled the atmosphere of the Northrise Campus on Saturday 1st June, 2019. It was the 12th Graduation Ceremony of Northrise University; a graceful occasion of acknowledging and rewarding the hard work and dedication it took the 65 students to get to the finish line. What a sight as jubilant and elegantly dressed graduates from different faculties majestically flaunted their regalia and joyfully received their awards. Shouts of joy were certainly not in short supply as the audience gave their resounding round of applauds to each graduate being conferred.
Dr. Conrad Mbewe, the first Chancellor of African Christian University was the guest speaker. In his occasional address, he underscored the importance of God in higher education and commended Northrise for its unwavering commitment to a Christ-centred education. “One of the greatest tragedies in the human story has been that of divorcing God from education and locking him up in the four walls of our churches…” he said. In line with the theme, he put forward that we should seek God not only for help in times of need but like David, seek him for wisdom, salvation and daily seek him for strength.
Dr. Zimba, the Vice Chancellor, charged the graduates with an emphatic assertion that their future was in God’s hand. “There is only one 100%, totally reliable source about your future. That’s God” he said. He concluded saying “it’s not about you changing the world, it’s about you being changed and trusting God for your life”.
The valedictorian, Bruce Mukaba, recounted precious memories of his academic journey at Northrise and encouraged his fellow graduates to keep on moving forward taking with them every tool and skill acquired.
During the ceremony, two graduates of the Bachelor of Theology (Bruce Mukaba and Chilenji Shinkolo) and one MBA graduate (Kaunda Salimu) were awarded as best graduating students courtesy of our corporate sponsors ZANACO and AVANI Resorts. Kudos to each one of you for being exemplary scholars.
To the class of 2019, congratulations! While this marks an end of your program at Northrise University, it signals a new and significant chapter in the larger world; please continue in the spirit of being excellent at what is good. Well done, good and faithful students!
