Northrise University Initiative is the family of friends providing financial, spiritual, and familial support empowering Northrise University to equip men and women in ministry and business who contribute to the spiritual and economic transformation of Zambia, ONE STUDENT at a time.
Here are a few of the ways friends like you are sharing the Northrise story to expand our support!
Orange County Auction, April 2015
Approximately 300 friends gathered on Friday, April 17 at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach to raise funds for Northrise University. The Chancellor’s Reception began at 5 pm with 40 guests gathering to hear from Chris Krause, VP of Strategic Initiatives for Baylor University sharing about the partnership between Baylor and Northrise University.
At 6 pm the social hour started with guests bidding on silent auction items and catching up with friends.
The dinner and program began at 7 pm with special guests from Zambia, Steven Sikobela, Director of University Advancement at NU, Lusuntha Ngulube, Director of Information Strategy and Technology at NU and Mulenga Chella, NU graduate and current student Masters in Divinity candidate at Baylor University. Each guest sharing about the impact that Northrise has had on their lives and in the lives of students in Zambia.
Music was provided by the PawnShop Kings, longtime friends of Northrise.
Board of Trustees member, Drew Lawler, spearheaded a $100,000 fundraising match for the evening. The guests responded overwhelmingly with $245,000 raised for the entire event.
OC Men’s Breakfast, November 2015
20 men gathered on November 11 at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach to hear from Moffat Zimba. Moffat shared about “Standing Firm in the Face of Corruption” over breakfast. Bob Searles served as the MC for the morning. It was a great time of hearing about Northrise and fellowship.
Fish Fry, November 2015
Members of the East Parkway team from Impact Ndola 2015 gathered to share more about their experiences in Ndola, Zambia in July of 2015. The goal was to raise scholarship money for one student to attend Northrise
University.
Houston Shootout, November 2015
Hi friends. We had a GREAT shootout Saturday morning, November 21. Aside from some cold weather, the shoot couldn’t have gone better. We had 34 shooters and just a handful of volunteers that day, our smallest crowd yet, but it was the exact group the Lord wanted to be there.
Mulenga Chella was able to bring his family down from Waco to be our guest speaker. Mulenga communicated the life changing impact of a Northrise education as well as clearly sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a very diverse crowd of friends and shooters. I’m thankful he was able to join us!
With 34 shooters, we raised just over $3,000 from the event. That paired with one full student sponsorship. The Shootout brought in around $5,400 in total. All of our final numbers aren’t in, so there are still opportunities for more people to give directly as a result of the shoot. More importantly, we continued to tell the story about Northrise and introduced many people to the Gospel.
We are thankful for everyone’s help to do this event each year. It’s always a blast!
