It was a day filled with anticipation and excitement. The decorations, flowers, and graduation booklets were in place. The graduating students began to arrive and eagerly made their way to the studio to put on their graduation gowns. Family and friends of the graduating students, as well as esteemed invited guests, were ushered to their seats as the Northrise University choir sang to welcome everyone.
Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for had arrived. The graduation procession began with the Graduate Director, Mr. Chilufya, leading the procession, followed by the graduating students including the first ever graduating Law class at Northrise University. Last in procession were Vice Chancellor, Mrs. Doreen Zimba, Chancellor, Dr. Moffatt Zimba, and members of faculty.
After the procession, the Zambian National anthem was sung by Gillian Kunda, a first year BBA student. The Vice Chancellor gave a welcome speech and the President of the Academic Board asked the graduands to stand in preparation to receive their diplomas and requested the Chancellor to admit the graduands to their respective degrees and diplomas.
Proudly, the graduates stepped onto the stage one-by-one to receive their certificates as family and friends cheered them on. The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Steven Sikobela, then invited Miss Taonga Tembo to present the Valedictory speech. Various students were also recognized for academic excellence.
At the end of the event, the Master of Ceremony asked the graduates and guests to stand for the departure of the Academic Procession, marking the end of the graduation ceremony. They walked in as Graduands and walked out as Graduates, heading into the world to serve and make it a better.
