Dear Student,

I hope that you have settled down in the new semester with its new opportunities, new challenges and—I can confidently predict – new accomplishments for yourself and your University.

I am thrilled to have all continuing and new students with us—on campus and those studying remotely through Distance e-Learning (DEL) – and I look forward to yet another time of learning, serving our Northrise community and, together, furthering the reach of our academic studies. I especially welcome our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program students.  You have chosen a profession that promises to play an even increasingly vital role in our Zambian society. With each day that passes, the need for nursing professionals who can help individuals, families, businesses, and communities thrive becomes ever clearer. It won’t be long before each of you takes your place in the professional arena and assumes the leadership positions needed to advance the organizations and communities you will serve.  You are Northrise!

As I alluded to in the first semester of this Academic Year, our goal here at Northrise University is not just to provide an education that leads to a future career.  We aim to deepen your faith as you broaden your knowledge and skills. Our goal is to equip you with the very best education based on the rock solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, so that whatever path God has prepared for you, NU will point you to a better way of living in your personal life, churches, different organizations, businesses, communities, and beyond.

As the semester is already underway, I wish each of you success in your studies and in your own personal and professional growth. I look forward to the day when each of you will cross “the stage” to receive your certificate and make your official entry into the rewarding profession you have chosen.

My hope and desire is that you will use your time here to dive deeply into your studies.  Consider yourself as experiencing a form of education that every student deserves and far too few have the opportunity to receive. Take advantage of it by being academically engaged, getting to know your faculty, and diving deep into your course work. Savor every class and maximize every reading, assignment and lecture. You will look back on your life with gratitude or regret based on how committed you are to your studies.

Enjoy your time and continue to be excellent at what is good.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV).

Shalom,

Dr. Moffat Zimba,
President/Vice Chancellor.
