Examinations are part of ongoing assessments that are designed to test a student's comprehension of knowledge and acquired skills in a given course or unit of study. At Northrise, different types of exams are administered in different weeks during each given semester. Though each exam carries a different weighting, students are encouraged to take every exam seriously as each score acquired counts towards the final grade of a course.
Northrise administers a maximum of three (3) exams in each course, namely; Quizzes, Mid-Semester and Final Exams.
For courses running on-site, NU administers campus-based exams.
- Quizzes are written online using Trelson. Trelson can be accessed via your Northrise University google account. These exams are administered in Week 6 of a given Semester.
- Mid-Semester Exams are paper-based exams written on campus predominately in Week 8 of the Semester.
- Final Exams are also paper-based exams written in the Final Exam Week at the end of each Semester.
NU administers Online Exams for all courses running online. Instead of Quizzes and Mid-Semester Exams, online students take on other online assessments as part of their Course Plan.
- Final Exams are written online in the Final Exam Week at the end of each Semester.
- Trelson is the Online Exam Software that Northrise uses to administer its online exams. Using Trelson, Northrise is able to offer its students reliable and proven technology for taking online exams from virtually anywhere. Click to access Trelson

Student Results
Results are the official yardstick for measuring the academic performance of a student. Academic performance is fundamental to the Academic Advising process and therefore a good starting point for both students and Academic Advisors.
To streamline the process of publishing results and Academic Advising, Northrise University introduced a new Results System called ADVISOR! ADVISOR is the electronic student advising system intended to assist you in determining your progress towards completion of your program.

Getting Started with Academic Advising
Northrise partners with students to offer academic, social, and emotional support with a goal of helping students succeed in their academic endeavors. This process is called Academic Advising (AA). Through AA, we achieve the following and more:
- Provide students with accurate information about their academic progression status and degree requirements.
- Assist students in understanding NU academic policies, procedures and programs.
- Help students access campus and other resources that will enhance their ability to be academically successful.
- Assist students in overcoming educational and personal problems or setbacks.
Who is eligible for AA
2.0 is a Graduation Requirement for Undergraduate students. A GPA below 2.0 puts a student at risk of not graduating within the program's stipulated time-frame.
A Struggling Student is any student with a GPA below 2.0.
Northrise therefore automatically places such a student on Academic Probation as an intervention measure to fully evaluate the student’s poor performance and possible causes as well as clarify the progression options available.
Academic Probation is a provisional period given to a student in which they are required to improve failed grades or bad conduct.
Students on Academic Probation are required to take part in an Academic Intervention Self-Assessment. This process allows a student to review obstacles that may be factors to their low performance, including study habits, time management skills, personal, or career factors.
Student on Admission Probation (accepted into Northrise on conditions of meeting specified conditions) similar to those on Academic Probation. Therefore, they are not scheduled for Academic Advising but are monitored by Student Life on their progress towards meeting admission conditions. After one year, those who would have not met the conditions are automatically required to undergo Academic Advising.
Academic Advising for Striving and Thriving Students
Student who are progressing well are in two categories:
- Thriving students are high performing students who pass courses with average grades of B and above and have a GPA of 3.0 and above.
- Striving Students are fairly performing students who pass courses with average grades between C to C+ and have a GPA between 2.0 and 2.99.
If any of these students wish to sit down with an Academic Advisor to chat their progress and seek encouragement, they are free to complete the Self-Assessment Test in the Student Management System (SMS) and subsequently apply for Academic Advising.
