The purpose of our multi-phase Advancing the Vision capital campaign is to support a substantial expansion of facilities on our 640 acre main university campus in Ndola, Zambia.
Our vision to empower the people of Zambia, one student at a time, is based on our ability to provide an outstanding education for the future leaders of Zambia through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and economic empowerment. Providing a high quality and safe environment for students is fundamental to achieving our vision.
OVERVIEW OF CAMPUS EXPANSION
PHASE ONE was completed at the end of 2017 and included the opening of the Campus Center in June 2016. The 35,000 square foot Campus Center is home to faculty, students, and staff and contains a 200 seat auditorium, library, computer lab, cafeteria, and offices.
Phase One included a significant portion of campus infrastructure such as roads, parking lots, water and sewer, landscaping, and the main entrance. Completion of the campus infrastructure will occur throughout the next phase of construction.
PHASE TWO is scheduled to begin in 2018 as the remaining campus infrastructure is completed. Phase Two includes the construction of a new dormitory, two faculty duplexes, and a combined School of Engineering and School of Agriculture classroom building. Total cost of Phase Two is $3.8 million.
PHASE THREE will begin in 2020 and includes the construction of a student activity center with an indoor gymnasium, computer lab, library, and cafeteria. Phase Three also includes the construction of an additional dormitory, to increase total resident student housing to over 300 students, and additional faculty housing. Total cost of Phase Three is estimated at $5.6 million.
PHASE FOUR will provide the remaining capital infrastructure to support 2,000 plus students and the ability to host large community events on campus. The addition of a convocation center for hosting graduations will also serve as a premier conference venue for the Copperbelt region.
A campus lodge will house visiting professors and others in the Northrise family. Upon completion of Phase Four, Northrise University’s main campus will have the quality infrastructure necessary for long-term sustainability and maximum impact. Total cost of Phase Four is $4.8 million.
