Dear Friends,
Greetings and Merry Christmas! Another year has come and gone; we are excited about all that has happened at Northrise in 2014. We have seen God’s goodness in many ways.
First, we have seen God’s goodness in the lives of our students. As the students are discipled they are living out their faith in tangible ways. Service learning continues to be pivotal aspect in a Northrise student’s education, demonstrating that we come to serve, not be served. Northrise has facilitated ways for students to serve, such as encouraging local pastors in their work, and sharing medical resources with the Children’s Hospital. Over the years, the result of combining this discipling process with a quality education is placing our graduates in high demand in the workforce after graduation. The vision is being realized-Praise God! This year, we’ve seen Northrise graduates get jobs in the mining, hotel, IT, banking and manufacturing industries. I am constantly encouraged to see how God is working in the lives of our students, and how their changed lives are impacting Zambia!
God’s goodness has also been apparent in our university partnerships. This year we solidified our partnership with Baylor University and were blessed to have 77 people from Baylor visit Northrise including students, professors, and senior management teams. Northrise and Baylor students joined together to put on sports clinics and our students were benefitted by attending classes taught by Baylor professors. We also hosted professors from Fontys University in the Netherlands and Dordt College who taught at Northrise as well. I am grateful for these partnerships that will have an immeasurable impact on Northrise, our community and our nation!
Finally, we have seen God’s goodness in his continual provision. We marked 10 years as a university this year with celebrations in Zambia, California and Arizona. Looking back over the last decade-what began with 50 students in 2004 has grown to over 600 students in 2014. Thanks be to God! As we continue to steadily grow we have seen funding come in for student scholarships and were able to break ground on our new Campus Center building, which will allow Northrise to accommodate more students.
Even as we thank God for these things, we remember that we have all we need in Christ, for “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” (Ephesians 1:7) I am humbled by his abundant grace and love! May you each have a Merry Christmas and blessings in the New Year!
Shalom,
