A Transformative Journey: Gideon Kafwembe’s Story of Hope Through Financial Aid

Gideon Kafwembe, a third-year Bachelor of Information Technology in Web and Software Development student at Northrise University, is a testament to resilience and transformation. Born into a family of six, Gideon is the third-born and faced unimaginable challenges that almost derailed his dreams of higher education.

“Before joining Northrise, I was studying engineering at the University of Zambia. I had reached my second year when my father passed away,” Gideon recounts. “Managing the expenses after that became a challenge. My mom took on the financial burden, but it was overwhelming. I had to take a year off in 2020, and even when I tried to return in 2021, I couldn’t manage. By 2022, I was at home, unsure of my next steps.”

Determined to continue his education, Gideon discovered Northrise University and the financial aid opportunities it offered. “I chose Northrise because they provide sponsorship for students who perform well. When I received financial aid, it was life-changing. The burden on my mom lifted completely. She no longer worries about where the fees will come from, and I can focus on my studies without stress.”

Gideon’s aspirations reflect his newfound confidence and vision. “I want to merge my IT degree with my passion for digital art. My dream is to create software for movies, video games, and educational content, blending creativity with technology to inspire others. I also want to empower young people to recognize and use their God-given talents alongside their education.”
