“This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24: NKJV)
One of the most anticipated events of the academic year is the annual graduation ceremony. On June 2, Northrise University celebrated its 11th graduation ceremony with 73 students earning degrees from the School of Business and Law and the School of Science and Human Development.
Praises to God and gratitude were on the lips of the attendees. One parent in particular, Bishop Simutowe, was so excited to see his daughter, Dorcas, graduate. He stated that words felt insufficient in order for him to express his joy. He commended the University for not only well-preparing his daughter, but all his other family members who are part of the Northrise family.
The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Lazarous Phiri, president of Evangelical University. He called the graduates “Gospel Warriors” as he urged them to be faithful to God and demonstrate the gospel. The theme of his message was continued by Mr. Dean Lameck Musukwa, this year’s Valedictorian. He expressed his gratitude to be a member of the Northrise family while recounting fond memories from his years at Northrise.
It was then time to bid the final farewell to the graduates and Dr. Moffat Zimba, the Vice Chancellor of Northrise University, gave the charge. He challenged the graduates to serve in their various communities and institutions and to use their time and talents to transform the nation of Zambia.
Hard work sure does pay off; ‘their tassels were worth the hassle’, as the global catch-phrase from this years’ graduates goes.
They labored and have finally reaped their harvest!
Congratulations class of 2018!
