Northrise University held its first ever Alumni Convention on the 12th of January 2019 organized by the University’s Alumni Association. This event was a great way to bring Alumni together.
The event began with an opening prayer from Pastor Emil Mukuka followed by opening remarks from the guest speaker Mr. Steven Sikobela who did the introduction of the Alumni Executive Committee members.
The President of the Alumni Association Grace Kanene led the session of the adoption of the Alumni Constitution, and it is safe to say that the constitution was signed and adopted by both parties Mr. Steven Sikobela representing Northrise University and Grace Kanene representing the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association Treasurer Mrs. Natasha Chapasuka, took the stage and presented on the association budget for the project to be under-taken during the first quarter of 2019. In her presentation she encouraged the Alumni Community in her proposal, to make a Minimum monthly contribution of K50 towards Alumni programs and projects.
Later, Alumni Associate Secretary Mrs. Gracia Kananga Mwape informed the alumni about the association’s future plans. Among the things she mentioned were programs such as the Alumni Student Engagement Program, Alumni Career Advancement Program, and the Community – Led Project. She later availed the Alumni Involvement and the Alumni Calendar for the First quarter of 2019.
The Vice President of the Alumni Association Mr Muteto Mwangelwa led the Q & A session toward the end of the Program and Mr. Steven Sikobela gave the closing remarks.
Organizers of the event were encouraged by the number of alumni who attended the event and by the interest that many of the guests expressed in taking a more active role in the Association. Alumni have taken their first step toward impacting Zambia and in future, the world at large.
