4th February 2021 was a memorable day for Northrise University. Faculty and Staff joined the University’s Co-founder and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Moffat Zimba, in celebrating, thanksgiving, dedicating, and touring the new Dormitory and Classroom Building.
A few years back, Northrise University embarked on a multi-phase “Advancing the Vision” campaign to focus on substantial expansion of facilities on its 640-acre main university campus. In 2018, the new Dormitory project emerged as the Board of Regents’ top priority due to growing enrollment and demand for on-campus student housing.
In February 2020, construction works for the new 2-Storey Dormitory to house 122 students began. And in May the same year, construction of the new Classroom Building to house the Northrise University School of Nursing Skills Lab, Science Labs, a Computer Lab, and Classrooms also began. In exactly 12 months, both building projects were completed and handed over to the University.
After the handover, and as part of the official commissioning, NU celebrated and dedicated the two buildings. The dedication ceremony and tour started from the Dorms and concluded at the classroom building. Dr. Zimba expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness over Northrise University. “It’s a blessing to see these structures stand tall on our campus, God has been good in times of the COVID pandemic. He indeed has no boundaries in his provisions. A special thanks to our friends who graciously invested.” he said.
Before the dedication, staff and faculty toured the two buildings. Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the corridors as they celebrated the excellent and modern facilities in admiration of the goodness of God. Selected staff, led by the University Chaplin, lifted their voices in prayers of dedication and thanksgiving as everyone joined in agreement praising God for his faithfulness. Some had this to say:

“The dorms are beautiful, top-class standard and a very healthy environment to help students focus on learning.” Caroline Mutono.

“This is so exciting! I can’t wait to drill students in the Skills Lab” Agness Ndeke

“Wow! This is amazing, both teachers and learners will enjoy the serene and modern environment” Agness Nshindano

“It’s beautiful and God is good!” – Mr. Lusuntha Ngulube

“Learning will be fun because of the modern learning equipment” Felistus Hamujompa

The two completed buildings were constructed under phase 2 of the campus expansion project with an investment budget of approximately $2.6 million.
The ceremony closed with a benediction prayer from Mrs. Zimba, co-founder and Deputy Vice-Chancellor who gave thanks to God for His leading, and supremacy over Northrise and for friends of Northrise who continue to support capital and other projects at Northrise because they believe in the sustainable impact that Northrise students, staff, faculty and graduates are making in Zambia and beyond. Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has brought us!
