Northrise University Installs New Chancellor and Senior Leadership in Historic Ceremony

Ndola, Zambia — February 28, 2026 — Northrise University marked a historic milestone on February 28, 2026, with the official installation of its new Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and Deputy Vice Chancellor. The ceremony brought together university leaders, faculty, students, alumni, and distinguished guests from Zambia and abroad to celebrate a new chapter in the institution’s leadership and mission.
The installation ceremony was both an academic and spiritual celebration, reflecting Northrise University’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and faith-based leadership. As a Christ-centered university dedicated to developing professionals and global citizens devoted to the spiritual and economic transformation of Zambia and Africa, the occasion reinforced the institution’s enduring vision of shaping future leaders.
A Ceremony Rooted in Tradition and Vision
The event opened with the arrival of guests from across Zambia as well as international partners from Kenya and the United States. The venue was adorned with Northrise’s colors and banners, creating an atmosphere of celebration and reverence.
Serving as Master of Ceremony, Mr. Steven Sikobela welcomed attendees and set the tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by the formal academic procession, where faculty and newly appointed leaders entered in academic regalia, symbolizing the continuity of scholarship, tradition, and institutional leadership.
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer led by Mrs. Zimba, followed by the singing of the Zambian national anthem by the NU Choir, whose powerful performance unified the gathering in a moment of national pride.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Jeff Goble, Chair of the Northrise University Board of Regents, emphasized that the installation represented more than a ceremonial tradition. Instead, he described it as a defining moment in Northrise’s journey toward greater impact, leadership, and global recognition.

Dr. Moffat Zimba, founder and newly installed Chancellor, encouraged the Northrise community to embrace servant leadership. He reminded attendees that the true measure of academic excellence lies not in the number of leaders an institution has, but in the number of leaders it produces.
Prayers of Dedication and Community Reflections
The ceremony concluded with prayers of dedication from Bishop George Chanda and Professor Angelina Kioko, who prayed for wisdom, guidance, and strength for the newly installed leaders.
Following the ceremony, guests shared their reflections on the historic event. International visitors praised the authenticity and faith-centered nature of the celebration, while local academic partners expressed optimism about future collaborations under the university’s new leadership.
Among the most moving reflections came from Mrs. Agness Nshindano, one of Northrise University’s first students. Witnessing Dr. Zimba’s elevation to Chancellor, she described the moment as a powerful testament to perseverance, wisdom, and faith in God’s direction.
Continuing the Northrise Story
Founded in 2003 by Dr. Moffat and Doreen Zimba, Northrise University was established with a vision to transform Zambia by equipping students with quality, Christ-centered education. What began with just 50 students has grown into a thriving academic community committed to academic excellence and national development.
Today, Northrise continues to pursue its vision of becoming a leading private university in Southern Africa while empowering graduates who will contribute to the economic, social, and spiritual transformation of Zambia and beyond.
The installation ceremony served as a powerful reminder that Northrise’s mission remains steadfast: to nurture leaders who combine academic excellence with servant leadership and a commitment to transforming their communities.
As Northrise University embarks on this new chapter, the entire university community extends its heartfelt congratulations to the newly installed leadership and looks forward to their visionary guidance in shaping the future of the institution.
