Vision for the Civil Engineering Program
Northrise University Department of Civil Engineering envisions a bachelor's program that aligns with Zambia's national aspirations and addresses global trends in infrastructure development and sustainability. Our program equips graduates as engineering professionals who can serve not only Zambia but also the broader African Union and the global community. Through their expertise, they will care for community needs and, by extension, point to the goodness and glory of God.
What is a Profession in Engineering?
Engineers are the builders of our world, using creativity and knowledge to design, construct, and maintain everything from bridges and buildings to machines and systems. They solve problems, innovate solutions, and ensure safe, efficient infrastructure for society. In developed countries, there are approximately 8 to 12 engineers per 1000 workers. In the developing world where infrastructure needs to be developed and expanded, this figure is closer to 0.5 – 1.0 engineers per 1000 workers. This demonstrates the urgent need for engineers in developing regions such as Africa.
