Congratulation to Namyongo Mbilika, a Northrise University (NU) Law graduate who was recently admitted to the Bar. Being among the new 2020 advocates in Zambia, she is overjoyed that her lifelong dream of becoming a legal practitioner in Zambian is finally here. According to Namyongo, the blend of discipline, faith, and respect found at Northrise, set her ready to go far… Here are her answers to the specific questions we asked.
Q1. How do you feel about this achievement?
I feel relieved, proud, overjoyed, and grateful to God for making it possible for me to attain such a qualification.
Q2.What specific lessons have you learned in the process
First lesson: delay is not denial. Another lesson: at times in life you need to forget everything you know and be willing to start all over. That’s how barriers get broken….failure is just a chance life gives you to change your perspective and try again.
Q3. How has the Northrise education impacted your career journey?
Well, to start with I would not be where I am without Northrise University. Secondly, there is a discipline I learned at NU that has kind of helped me move from one platform to another in life.
Q4. What would be your advice to Northrise Law students who dream of admission to the Bar?
Never give up. Focus on your goals…be smart about your studies. Dedicate your entire time to your books and your God; the rest of the world can wait. If at first, you don’t succeed, get up, and try again.
Q5. Are there specific lessons you got from Northrise that aided your success?
Yes, punctuality and discipline in attending classes…
Q6. Would you consider the Northrise education as a right foundation for a career in Law?
Yes, I do. There is a blend of discipline, faith, and respect found at NU that one would hardly find elsewhere. During my time at NU, I felt like it was a punishment, but now I look back and see how I needed to go through the process to get to where I am today. Northrise has set me on the path to greatness.
