Being well acquainted with different managerial and leadership skills is a very important thing for everyone in the corporate world. Leadership and management are terms that are usually used interchangeably but, there is a distinction between them. Dr. Myles Munroe once stated, “Leaders are often ordinary people who accept or are placed under extraordinary circumstances that bring forth their latent potential, producing a character that inspires confidence and trust within others”. On the other hand, management can be defined as “The act or manner of managing, handling, direction, or control”. Management is more mechanical whereas leadership is more nurturing.
To help members of the corporate world, Northrise University is running a yearly seminar on leadership. This program is aimed at helping middle management from different corporations prepare themselves to take up the senior management roles. Companies like Atlas Copco were attendees of the NU Leadership seminar which was led by Mr. Steven Sikobela and Mrs. Catherine Mtambo. Atlas Copco is a leading supplier of Mining equipment. They supply products in all business areas and are situated in Chingola, Kitwe, Solwezi and Lusaka. Atlas Copco Zambia Limited markets, sells and services equipment.
We at Northrise University believe in being excellent at what is good. The University hopes that many other companies and individuals will come aboard and walk with us through a road of good leadership and management.
