Northrise University (NU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), establishing a framework for collaboration in education, research, academic exchange, and knowledge sharing. The agreement brings together two institutions committed to strengthening academic excellence and creating opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.
The MoU seeks to establish a strong and long-term institutional relationship between Northrise University and NUST while promoting academic and research collaboration. It also aims to support the professional and academic development of faculty members, researchers and students, facilitate the sharing of administrative and academic expertise, and enhance the quality of education and research through cooperative efforts.
Among the key areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement are academic and administrative staff exchanges, joint workshops and training programmes, collaborative academic programmes and projects, and research and academic publications. The institutions may also explore joint degree programmes, dual-degree initiatives and certificate courses, as well as mechanisms for credit transfer and recognition of academic qualifications.
The partnership further provides opportunities for joint conferences, seminars and workshops, student and faculty exchange programmes, academic mentoring, and the sharing of resources such as online learning platforms, library access and academic databases.
Of particular significance is the focus on research and innovation. The MoU identifies potential collaboration in areas including applied sciences, technology, business and social sciences, with opportunities for joint projects in emerging fields such as sustainable development, renewable energy, artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship. The institutions will also have opportunities to share research facilities, laboratories and equipment to strengthen their respective capabilities.
The agreement also highlights collaboration in quality assurance and accreditation, including sharing best practices in curriculum development, programme evaluation and student assessment.
The MoU was signed by representatives of both institutions in June 2026, marking a significant step towards strengthening regional and international academic collaboration between Zambia and Namibia.
Through this partnership, Northrise University continues to expand opportunities for academic collaboration, research, innovation and international engagement, creating pathways for students and faculty to learn, connect and contribute beyond national borders.
