Dordt College and Northrise University Establish Agriculture and Engineering Scholarship Program to Empower the People of Zambia, ONE STUDENT at a time.

Phoenix, Arizona (June 8, 2017) ‐ Building on the strong foundation of a relationship started in 2010, Northrise University and Dordt College announced today the development of the Northrise University Scholarship Program at Dordt College. Through this life changing program, qualified Northrise students will attend Dordt College to complete an Agriculture or Engineering degree. Students will then plan to obtain a master’s degree in a related teaching field and then return to Zambia to join the faulty of Northrise University.

Today, Northrise University also announced a generous gift from faithful supporters will provide initial funding of the Scholarship Program between Northrise University of Ndola, Zambia and Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Northrise University is a Christ‐centered educational institution dedicated to equipping men and women to work in ministry and business to contribute to the spiritual, cultural and economic transformation of Zambia. This latest partnership will extend even further Dordt’s existing relationship with Northrise.

Dr. Moffat Zimba, president of Northrise University, said of the new partnership, “God has blessed us greatly with the friendship and academic expertise of Dordt. Our Board of Regents, faculty and students are excited about the opportunity to partner with a high quality, Christ‐centered institution like Dordt. Dordt’s faculty and students will have an immeasurable impact on Northrise, our community and our nation as we empower the people of Zambia… one student at a time. We are very grateful!”

Dordt College’s Provost Dr. Eric Forseth shared, “We are appreciative of Northrise University’s willingness to entrust to Dordt these highly qualified students from Zambia. Because we have high quality, longstanding programs in Engineering and Agriculture, we will look forward to mentoring these students in their content area and in all aspects of Christian leadership.”

The first four Northrise students recommended for the new scholarship program recently received acceptance letters from Dordt for the 2017 fall semester. These students are excited about the incredible opportunity to study in the U.S. and prepare to serve on the faculty of Northrise University.

This partnership empowers both Northrise and Dordt to encourage and further promote Christian higher education in Zambia.
